Welcome to Souvenirs, a monthly-ish column featuring a few highly covetable, trust-me-on-this items I think you’ll love. Enjoy!
I bought this facial oil earlier in the fall, after my longtime fave stopped producing theirs (the beloved MUN, sob). Turns out, KLUR’s Unseasonal Kind oil plays second fiddle to no one. What’s surprised me is how easily it layers over moisturizer, without excess shine, weight, or that feeling like you moisturized a little too much. Even as a final step, the absorption is fantastic. My routine: toner, a hyaluronic acid serum, moisturizer, then a dot of the oil on the forehead and each cheek. Skin is velvety soft all day long, even though the low humidity levels should have already turned me reptilian.

This past year, my daughter grew interested in caring for our patio plants, whether it’s watering, repotting, or the serious excitement of a new flower in bloom. To show my tiny green thumb a little bit of what happens beneath the soil, I bought this avocado seed vase as a holiday “family gift” for all of us. It’ll look great as part of a centerpiece on our dining table, where we can watch it grow! The vase comes in several colors and sizes (the smaller acorn vase was a serious consideration, but with avocado pits aplenty around here, the choice was obvious).

‘Tis the season for oils I guess, but I couldn’t not share this incredible body oil with you. I read a review of it somewhere, which convinced me to try a little travel size. Lo and behold, I enjoyed it so much (and so quickly!) that I bought the big version immediately after. It’s truly liquid gold! Supernaturally lightweight on the skin, absorbs lightning fast (yes, really), and the scent is spa-like yet faint—it won’t interfere with any other fragrances you like to wear. As it happens, that mini size would make an excellent stocking stuffer.

We recently bought our kiddo her big girl bed, and I set about finding some cute sheets for a little girl who loves color. Of the sets I ordered from a couple different brands, these organic sheets from MakeMake surprised me as the favorite. They are unbelievably soft, and have washed great. I liked them so much, I ran back to their site to see if they made them in King size for my big girl bed, but alas—only up to a Queen/Full. If that’s you, don’t sleep on these (until you order them, that is.)

Beginning Thanksgiving weekend, it’s all holiday music, all the time at our house. How I make it through the season without lighting my hair on fire and running through the streets? We exclusively play jazz and piano playlists, devoid of any lyrics (which still manage to get stuck in my head, even without a parade of pop stars singing them). My amateur DJ advice: Play the jazzy one in the evenings—cocktails, dinner, with a glass of wine as you scroll. The piano one is great for mornings, or even as work background noise. Merry merry!

This week I wrote about the gifts that are left behind when our loved ones pass on.
I’m working on another round of reads for you to dive into over the holiday (it’ll be sent out next week!), but if you missed the first one, well, right this way.
I love Klur so much. I haven't tried that oil but their body oil is to die for.
